Illinois Youth and Adult Deer Hunting Opportunities
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) announced today that it is taking applications from youth firearm deer hunters and youth and adult archery deer hunters for Fall 2021 deer hunting on private land through the Illinois Recreational Access Program (IRAP).
The IDNR has leased 13,365 acres of private land for the Fall 2021 deer hunting season through IRAP, creating 323 public access deer hunting sites in 39 counties. Sites are available for the 2021 Youth Firearm Deer Season (Oct. 9-11, 2021), and for youth and adult archery deer hunting the entire month of October and December 16-31, at no cost to participants to access those sites. To apply, a licensed hunter must submit an online application.
Fargen named IRAP Landowner of the Year

SPRINGFIELD The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) announced Fulton County conservation advocate Ron Fargen has been selected as the Illinois Recreational Access Program (IRAP) Landowner of the Year for 2020.
Nominated for his dedication to conservation, Fargen began allowing IRAP participants to hunt for turkey, deer and squirrel on his property in Fulton County in 2013. In exchange for hunter access, IRAP pays Fargen an annual lease payment, provides liability insurance, and has written a habitat management plan specific to his property. IRAP also provides technical assistance and cost-share to help him implement the management plan and effectively manage his property through prescribed burning, tree planting, brush management and related conservation efforts.

IDNR Announces 2021 Habitat Fund Project Grants
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) today announced the approval of $958,096 in grants for seven wildlife habitat projects through the Illinois Habitat Fund Special Wildlife Funds Grant Program.
The program provides for enhancing game and non-game wildlife habitat through projects developed by not-for-profit organizations and governmental entities. Funding for the Illinois Habitat Fund Special Wildlife Funds Grant Program comes from the sale of Habitat Stamps.
The Illinois Habitat Fund Advisory Committee approved $958,096 in funding for the seven projects outlined below:
• Forest Preserve District of Will County (FPDWC) Braidwood Dunes, Savanna Nature Preserve, Sand Ridge Savanna NP and Kankakee Sands – This project will fund habitat restoration activities such as controlling nonnative invasive species to create large blocks of contiguous prairie and remnant savanna.
