Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) have announced $110 million in grant funding available to the state’s public ports.
The Port Facilities Capital Investment Grant Program is part of the Rebuild Illinois capital plan, and the announcement was made April 12.
IDOT is seeking project proposals from the state’s 19 public port districts to help improve the ports and modernize and revitalize the state’s marine transportation system. Applications are due June 11. The funding is expected to be released later this year.
Grant proposals will be evaluated on their ability to advance the plan’s goals and objectives, which prioritize asset management performance-based decisions and projects that benefit disadvantaged or economically distressed areas

J.B .Pritzker s bipartisan Rebuild Illinois capital program, according to a release from the state. With the Rebuild Illinois capital plan, we are restoring and transforming Illinois s aging infrastructure, Pritzker said in a release. In the coming months, IDOT will undertake projects that will ultimately create safer roads and bridges and provide jobs in the Will County area and across the entire state.

(The Center Square) – Spring causing the snow to melt means the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) crews are out in force picking up litter.
“While IDOT is committed to maintaining a positive impression of Illinois by having our maintenance teams collect litter from our roadsides, we need your help,” Acting Illinois Transportation Secretary Omer Osman said in a statement. “If the warmer temperatures make you tempted to toss that food wrapper or pop can out your car window, please don’t. Trash is more than just an eyesore. It has real, negative impacts on both the environment and our communities.”
