(BLOOMINGTON) Illinois Farm Bureau and the Illinois Press Foundation awarded 18 grants to help high school journalism efforts throughout the state. More than $22,000 total in grants, financially supported by IFB, will be distributed to the schools in the fall to pay for laptops, cameras, podcasting stations, and more. The Illinois Press Foundation Board of Directors’ Education Committee selected the grant recipients from a large field of applicants, reportedly well over three hundred (300) in total. The downstate recipients included only four high schools. Those in Sparta, Red Bud, Carlyle, and South Central High in Farina.
