(SPRINGFIELD) With May recognized as National Beef Month, the Illinois Beef Association has a number of promotional activities going on with the focal point this year revolving around beef hamburgers, which remain a favorite in America, despite competition from plant-based options. In fact, people across the country continue to consume roughly 50 billion beef patties every year. The IBA is promoting a “Best Burger” in Chicago contest, plus a “Burger Recipe” contest as well, and it plans to distribute ground beef donations at food banks throughout the state. The latest numbers show meat sales are up 13.4 percent since the start of the pandemic a year ago. For more information, check the IBA website at illinoisbeef.com.
