(CHICAGO) The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 15,953 new COVID-19 cases in Illinois over the weekend (8,737 on Saturday and 7,216 on Sunday), with 242 additional deaths (127 on Saturday and 115 on Sunday). The new statewide totals show 848,904 confirmed cases and 14,291 COVID-19 related deaths. The statewide positivity rate as of Sunday is now at 9.1 percent. While the Southern Illinois Region fell last week to 11.4 percent, our East Central Illinois Region dropped a bit from last week to 10.5 percent, as of yesterday. SPRINGFIELD, Ill. After being forced to cancel performances at the Illinois State Fair in 2020, the fair announced Friday the lineup of performers confirmed so far for 2021.
This is the first time the Illinois State Fair has announced and started ticket sales of grandstand acts prior to the new year.
“I think it gives the individuals who want to go to the concert a golden opportunity to purchase these as Christmas presents,” said Manager Kevin Gordon.
The lineup includes country stars Toby Keith, Craig Morgan, Chris Young and Kelsea Ballerini as well as comedian Gabriel Iglesias.

In the latest hospitalization report from around Illinois, there were 5,141 people with COVID-19 hospitalized throughout the state. The countdown to the 2021 Illinois State Fair is formally underway with fair officials announcing the start of the holiday promotional campaign starring the Mega Pass. A new Jumbo Pass will give fairgoers access to everything the Mega Pass has to offer, but with the added bonus of unlimited rides on a fan favorite, the Giant Slide.
The Illinois State Fair will be offering a Holiday Special on both passes December 15, 2020 through February 15, 2021. During this time the 2021 Mega Pass is just $60, while the Jumbo Pass will be offered at $70. Anyone who purchases a Mega or Jumbo Pass will receive a full refund if COVID prevents the Illinois State Fair from being held.
