DANSVILLE Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the first ever “OPERATION LIGHT IT UP” in Livingston County was a success, achieving its mission of brightening the day of senior citizens in nursing facilities and Noyes hospital in Dansville.
On Dec. 9, the Sheriff’s Office initiated the planning of the operation and invited all its public safety partners in policing, fire and EMS to join in the effort.
On Dec. 17, the mission became operational starting at the Sheriff’s Office at 5 p.m. and traveling throughout the county, ending in Dansville at 8 p.m.

BATH Steuben County closed out the week with 423 active COVID-19 cases after the Public Health Department reported 52 new cases Friday and 58 on Thursday.
Active cases are up 93 compared to the end of the previous week. The county now has 2,383 confirmed cases.
Locally, new cases to end the week included residents of the City of Hornell (15), Town of Addison, Town of Avoca, Town of Bath (4), Town of Cameron, Town of Canisteo (3), Town of Dansville, Town of Greenwood (2), Town of Hornellsville (5), Town of Howard, Town of Troupsburg (3), Village of Addison (5), Village of North Hornell (4), Village of Arkport, Village of Avoca, Village of Bath, Village of Canisteo and Village of Wayland.

DANSVILLE UR Medicine | Noyes Health administration presented Patricia Derowitsch RN, BSN, Director of Noyes’ Acute Care, Nursing Education and Community Outreach programs, with the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
Derowitsch heads Noyes’ Medical Surgery in-patient nursing staff and supervises the continuing clinical education programs.
“Patty received so many nominations from her staff and her peers which mentioned the respect she shows to all, and for the understanding, encouragement and patience she demonstrates – particularly in these challenging times,” says Tammy West, RN, Noyes’ Chief Nursing Officer. “Patty deserves this recognition, and our thanks.”
