SOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 23, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) marked International Mother Earth Day by inviting the global community to do their part, by planting a tree, to ensure our planet remains inhabitable for generations to come.
HHRD initiated The Green Planet tree plantation campaign under its Orphan Support Program (OSP) in 2011. Since the year 2010, the OSP team and sponsored children have planted more than 50,000 trees. This year, our field teams planted 4,571 small plants in 45 districts across Pakistan.

MTN Uganda through its Foundation Arm, MTN Foundation Uganda at the tail of 2020 launched a youth empowerment skilling program with a goal of preparing the youths for the evolving digital world. Implemented in partnership with Uganda-based software firm Ubunifu Systems, 100 youths were selected from a call of application to receive technology training in the key thematic areas of: Agriculture, Education, Health, Technology and Youth Empowerment .

In the early part of the year 2020, MTN Uganda launched the MTN for Good campaign with the intention of awakening youth to the fact that they can achieve their dreams if they pursue them. To participate in the campaign, the youths were required to submit a one minute video in which they talk about their enterprise and where they would like to take it.
Youth empowerment and mitigating violence during the COVID-19 pandemic
Media, institutional reports, and research reviews from all around the world are giving voice to what has been called the silent or shadow pandemic: the increase in violence against women during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been attributed to, among other things, the intersection of confinement during lockdowns, increased stress at home, and a decline in access to services. Here we look at new evidence on the impact of a program in Bolivia, which was not designed to directly address gender-based violence. Rather, it was intended to improve income opportunities for young persons by developing their soft and hard skills.
