US youth poet laureate Amanda Gorman will co-chair this year's Met Gala alongside Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish and tennis pro Naomi Osaka, organizer Vogue revealed Monday.
The young poet graces the May issue of
Vogue and is the first poet ever to do so. The issue was released on Wednesday and Gorman dished on everything from how she got her start as a poet to how she is deciding what projects she will work on.

BUILDINGS & BRIDGES: Efforts to save The Bridge Academy and Community Center have continued even as the situation grows more complex: There has been an agreement for the building to be sold, but the identity of that buyer – mostly believed to be an investment group of some sort – is currently unknown. Moreover, Bridge property manager Dan Ford confirmed in a brief phone conversation that, as of this writing, they have not received an eviction notice. But as much as the Bridge s future is in limbo, fundraising efforts have continued, which is important, because there are really only two ways this situation can land, and the Bridge will need money in either outcome.

PALM SPRINGS, CA A colorful mural featuring Los Angeles native Amanda Gorman, the poet who read her work at President Joe Biden s inauguration and at the Super Bowl, is now on display in downtown Palm Springs.
Los Angeles-based artist MisterAlek painted Gorman surrounded by butterflies and the word unity. The scene depicts the Los Angeles native s powerful reading of her original poem The Hill We Climb at the Jan. 20 presidential swearing-in ceremony in Washington, D.C., which thrust her into the national spotlight.
