Biden Repeats Support for Israel Attacks on Gaza, Backs Ceasefire At Some Point

Posted by Scott Lucas | May 18, 2021 | A fireball rises from a Gaza building struck by Israeli missiles, May 18, 2021 (Mohammed Salem/Reuters) President Joe Biden has repeated his endorsement of Israel’s deadly attacks on Gaza, while backing an eventual ceasefire. Biden made the statement in a Monday phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A brief White House readout said Biden “reiterated his firm support for Israel’s right to defend itself against indiscriminate rocket attacks”. He continued to refer to the Hamas leadership of Gaza as “terrorist” during the discussion of “progress in Israel’s military operations”. As the killings in Gaza reached 212, including 61 children and 35 women, the President “encouraged Israel to make every effort to ensure the protection of innocent civilians”. He “expressed his support for a ceasefire and discussed US engagement with Egypt and other partners towards that end”.

Biden Again Flouts the CDC Guidance in Michigan, Praises Rashida Tlaib

AP Photo/Evan Vucci Joe Biden was in Dearborn, Michigan today to visit a Ford factory that makes electric vehicles. While there he had an intense conversation with Rashida Tlaib for several minutes, which was not shared with the media. Monday Tlaib excoriated Biden over his response on the Gaza conflict, claiming Biden was “taking orders” from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Biden subsequently indicated that he was supportive of a ceasefire. Biden’s response Tuesday, at least publicly, was to praise Tlaib during his remarks. “I admire your intellect, I admire your passion, I admire your compassion,’ Biden said, praising her as a fighter. “I pray that your grandmom and family are well,” Biden said, referencing Tlaib’s Palestinian family who lives in the area now under conflict. So basically she undercuts him and he rolls over. Can we say, “completely at the mercy of the left”?
