Missing since 2008, Kutch cattle herder released from Pakistan jail, reaches Amritsar © Provided by The Indian Express ISMAIL SAMA, a cattle herder from Nana Dinara village in Gujarat’s Kutch district who went missing in 2008 and was later found in a Pakistani jail, was released on Friday following an order by the Islamabad High Court on January 14. Ismail reached the Indian Red Cross Society’s branch in Amritsar after Pakistani officers handed him over to Indian authorities. Nana Dinara village is located near Khavda, around 50 km from on the Indo-Pakistan border in Bhuj taluka of Kutch district. Ismail went missing on August 28, 2008, and his wife Kamabai believes that her husband lost his way and inadvertently crossed over to the Pakistan side of the border or was abducted by Pakistani border guards.

An IHC division bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani took up Mr Zardari’s petition seeking pre-arrest bail in the case of about Rs8.3 billion suspicious transactions from the joint accounts of Bahria Town’s assistant private secretary Mushtaq and Zain Malik into fake accounts.

The IHC issued the orders while hearing a petition filed by students against the violations by the PMC in the MDCAT exam. The court said that students should go to the PMC and all their objections would be heard. During the hearing, the counsel for the students had argued that carrying out exams was not in the domain of the federal government and was a subject of the provincial government.

ISLAMABAD: Dr Aafia Siddiqui, a US citizen of Pakistani origin, refused to meet Pakistan’s consul general for processing her mercy petition, the foreign ministry informed the Islamabad High Court on Monday. The ministry submitted the report in connection with a petition filed by Dr Aafia’s sister, Dr Fowzia Siddiqui, seeking her repatriation from the US. Justice Aamer Farooq heard the petition. While apprising the court of the status of the mercy petition, the report stated that “following the signing of the mercy petition by Dr Aafia during the December 2019 consular visit, our embassy in Washington DC had approached the US Department of Justice (DoJ) for further course of action.
