14 people die in flash floods in Herat province

(Last Updated On: May 4, 2021) At least 14 people died in a flash flood in Herat province on Monday, local officials said Tuesday. The flood occurred in Rukha village of Adraksan district. Five men, four children and one woman died in the floods along with hundreds of heads of livestock. Officials said the district governor, along with local officials, have gone to the area to help the victims. Meanwhile, floods in other districts of Herat province have also caused severe damage to farms and houses. Under the guidance of the Herat provincial official, a crisis management committee was established on Monday. The committee, supervised by the Herat governor, worked till late Monday night assessing the situation and planning disaster management action.

Furthermore, Foreign Minister Qureshi also met with Tajikistani President Rahmon for talks that he described as “excellent”. Quite clearly, both sides have the political will to forge a strategic partnership, which encourages experts to explore what this might look like in the future.
