Iran s Revolutionary Guards Kick Off Drills Near Iraq Border February 11, 2021 11:30 GMT Share share Print Iran s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has launched ground forces drills in the southwest of the country near the Iraqi border. IRGC Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said on February 11 that drones, helicopters, and artillery are to be used in the drills, dubbed Great Prophet 16, according to Press TV. It was not clear how long the drills would last. Iran has increased its military drills in recent weeks as tensions built during the final days of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Iran’s troubled border with Pakistan By Brig N K Bhatia Iran s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) in a move on Wednesday 03 February 2021, freed two of its soldiers held by a Pakistan based terrorist outfit, Jaish ul-Adl from Baluchistan in Pakistani territory. The soldiers were from a group of 12 IRGC soldiers who had been kidnapped on 16 October 2018 from Iranian territory and held in Pakistan. After the kidnapping of IRGC soldiers a joint committee had been formed between the two countries to help in the rescue of Iranian soldiers. Five of the soldiers were released on Nov. 15, 2018, and four Iranian soldiers were rescued by the Pakistani army on March 21, 2019. One soldier remains untraced so far.
