Muis said mosques here had built up their emergency preparedness capabilities since 2017. - The Straits Times/ANN SINGAPORE, Jan 30 (The Straits Times/ANN): Mosques here will continue to strengthen their emergency preparedness, even as their leaders reassure congregants that they remain safe and sacred spaces, the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) chief executive Esa Masood said on Saturday (Jan 30).
The announcement cam as Singapore also announced a slight increase in its daily Covid-19 cases.
There were 58 new Covid-19 cases confirmed as at Saturday noon (Jan 30), taking Singapore s total to 59,507 cases.
Of the 58, three are in the community. The remaining 55 new cases are imported and had been placed on stay-home notice or isolated on arrival in Singapore, said the Ministry of Health (MOH).

SINGAPORE, Jan 29 A Muslim religious school is being investigated for operating without registration and for having an unaccredited teacher give lessons at the school, the police said yesterday.
Fahrorazi Sohoi, 49, had allegedly taught at the unregistered FR Quran Centre on Onan Road near Joo Chiat. He is not registered under the Asatizah Recognition Scheme, which is mandatory for all Islamic religious teachers here.

SINGAPORE (The Straits Times/ANN): Christian and Muslim religious leaders in Singapore met on Thursday (Jan 28) to reaffirm the mutual trust and understanding between the two religious communities and condemn the plot by a Protestant Christian youth to attack Muslims at two mosques here.
The meeting was held at the Yusof Ishak Mosque in Woodlands, one of two sites targeted by a 16-year-old Singaporean of Indian ethnicity who was inspired by the 2019 Christchurch mosque shootings, a tragedy which claimed 51 lives in New Zealand.
