ICU syndicate meets

PESHAWAR: Syndicate of the Islamia College University on Wednesday authorised Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Jan Bakht to form different committees to look into various cases identified by a Joint Inspection Team (JIT).
The meeting, chaired by the vice-chancellor, discussed various issues pertaining to the universities and also discussed the JIT report.
Meanwhile, a function was arranged at the Islamia Collegiate School to commemorate the Christmas Day. A cake was also cut to mark the day and show solidarity with the Christian community.

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) provincial spokesperson and Member Provincial Assembly Samar Haroon Bilour has said that the country is on the verge of bankruptcy due to economic policies of the current ‘selected’ rulers.
Speaking at a news conference here at Press Club on Tuesday, she said inflation, price hike and unemployment had reached its peak but Prime Minister Imran Khan and his cabinet members were claiming that the country was moving in the right direction.
“If the poor and middle-class families could not afford high prices of edible items, how can one claim that the country is on the right track,” she asked and added that the government instead of creating more jobs had terminated services of thousands of employees in Pakistan Steel Mills, PIA and other sectors.
Official orders completion of astroturf laying at varsity

PESHAWAR: Secretary Sports, Tourism, Archeology, Museums and Youth Affairs, Muhammad Abid Majeed Monday visited the historic Islamia College University and inspected the ongoing work on laying of Astroturf at the hockey ground.
Additional Secretary Tourism Junaid Khan, Director General Sports Asfandyar Khattak, Director Sports Islamia College Peshawar Ali Hoti and other officials were present on the occasion.
The official urged a speedy completion of the facility so that the students could start taking benefits from it. He lauded the activities of the university’s sports directorate and said the Islamia College being one of the top and oldest educational institutions of the province has rendered great services to the promotion of education as well as sports in the province.
PhD thesis defended

MANSEHRA: Robina Rashid has successfully defended her PhD thesis at the public defence at the Hazara University Mansehra and recommended for the doctorate degree in Urdu.
She completed her research on A Hameed’s novelist approach and writing under the supervision of Dr Sofyan Safi and co- supervisor Dr Mohammed Rahman.
Dr Izharullah Izhar of the Islamia College University and Dr Irshad Shakar Awan of the Sarhad University of Science and Technology Peshawar served as her external examiners. The defence was attended by the faculty members and students in strictly compliance with the standard operational procedures of novel coronavirus.

PESHAWAR: In accordance with the traditions of Islamia College University, the 36th annual chrysanthemum exhibition was opened on the main lawns adjacent to the office of vice-chancellor with charming floral patterns.
Around 75 varieties of chrysanthemum have been displayed at the exhibition where floral models of the building of Islamia College and national flag giving a magnificent look cast a magical impact on the visitors.
The members of KP Floral Art Horticulture Society (FAHS) turned up and reviewed various floral models of the chrysanthemum exhibition. They appreciated the efforts of the experts and administration of ICU for arranging such an event despite fear of pandemic spread.
