Two found dead February 7, 2021 BAHAWALPUR: Two friends were found dead under mysterious circumstances near Chak 133/6-R in the vicinity of Faqirwali police of Bahawalnagar district on Saturday. Muhammad Irfan and his friend Irfan were found dead having bullet signs on their bodies. The police have registered case against unidentified killers. MOU SIGNED: A memorandum of understanding (MoU ) was signed between Prof Dr Athar Mahboob Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, and Dr Rasheed Masood Khan, Chief Executive Officer BEEF to provide Rs 3.7 million scholarships annually to students of Balochistan who are studying in the varsity. The MoU was signed during a meeting and documents were exchanged.

Similarly, the IUB Tourism Directorate has been set up for the long-term promotion of tourism.

Civil engineering lab inaugurated APP January 20, 2021 BAHAWALPUR: Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) Vice Chancellor Dr Athar Mahboob has inaugurated a state-of-the-art laboratory in the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. Speaking on the occasion, the vice chancellor said that the laboratory was a great addition to the Faculty of Engineering. He said Bachelor, Master, MPhil and PhD students in civil and mechanical engineering will benefit from the devices. The latest equipment for the laboratory was imported from Germany. IUB to generate 2.5MW solar power Under Clean and Green Pakistan programme, educational institutions shifting to renewable energy APP January 12, 2021 BAHAWALPUR: Under the Clean and Green Pakistan programme, educational institutions including Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) are being shifted to solar energy on the direction of the Punjab government, stated IUB Vice Chancellor Dr Athar Mahboob. “The IUB is also at the forefront of this mission of national service.” According to the IUB VC, installation of 5,624 solar panels on an area of 11 acres in the university was in its early stages. He further said it would also provide supply to the national grid system. The pilot project would generate electricity at a very low rate of Rs1.7 per unit. This would save the university expenditure about Rs70 million annually, the vice chancellor added.
