Treasurer Josh Frydenberg announced the reappointment of Dr Debelle as deputy governor following the RBA’s decision on Tuesday to keep the cash rate anchored at 0.1 per cent and to slightly reduce its government bond-buying program to $4 billion from $5 billion a week.
Mr Frydenberg said Dr Debelle “has provided strong economic leadership, particularly in helping to steer the board’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic” – such as the RBA’s unprecedented $200 billion bond-buying program.
