The Fort Saskatchewan and District Chamber of Commerce and the City of Fort Saskatchewan announced the recipients of the Support Your Fort scholarships this week.
“The idea to create a scholarship program came from local businesses who wanted to give back to the community for all their support. Although the initial goal was to provide one $500 scholarship, we received an anonymous donation this fall, and the third $500 scholarship was made possible through the generous donation of First Memorial, Riverview Chapel,” Chamber Executive Director Tamara Dabels explained.

Dead mouse deposited at bank: Mayfield Heights Police Blotter
Updated Jan 18, 2021;
Suspicious package: SOM Center Road
A bank employee received a mailed package at the branch Jan. 7 with a foul-smelling odor. She contacted officers before opening it because she had received a package with a dead rodent in it two weeks earlier while working at the Willowick branch.
Officers opened it to find a dead mouse in a trap.
The sender was listed as a Lyndhurst resident, but his name did not match the address on the envelope.
The employee said the package that came to the other location was sent after she had shut down an account.

A trackhoe finishes excavating a small corner of the two-acre site on the east side of Eastgate Plaza in East Alton where the MCT Eastgate Park & Ride facility is being built. Most of the underground improvements, such as sewer and drainage, are finished, as is the rocking of the surface which precedes paving. The $1,596,000 project on Illinois 3 includes 104 parking spaces, a waiting building for drivers, video surveillance and restrooms.
EAST ALTON Work is progressing on the $1.5 million Eastgate Park & Ride facility in East Alton.
In November, the Madison County Transit (MCT) Board of Trustees were joined by local elected officials, contractors and the owners of nearby Eastgate Plaza for an official “ground breaking” for the facility. The Park & Ride facility is expected to be completed this fall.
