If the Board of Trustees approves the proposed change, the tuition adjustment would be cut in half to 2.2 percent, or $312 rather than the originally proposed $625, according to a statement on UConn’s website.
UConn said it is considering this because of the coronavirus pandemic-related financial constraints many students and their families are facing.

STORRS, Conn. The UConn Board of Trustees is continuing talks to make cuts to a planned tuition increase for the 2021-2022 academic year.
The university said the new proposal takes into account the financial hardships families are dealing with because of the pandemic.
UConn is currently in the second year of a five-year tuition adjustment plan, which was adopted in late 2019 before the pandemic.
The proposal being considered by the Board of Trustees would cut in half the tuition increase that was already approved as part of that five-year plan for the upcoming academic year.
Some UConn Board of Trustees members are pushing back against a proposal that would cut the school’s scheduled in-state tuition increase for next school year in half, citing concerns about potential revenue loss and requests from UConn administrators to delay further discussion on the issue.
