Ukrainian prime minister meets with Turkish foreign, defense ministers

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and Minister of National Defense of Turkey Hulusi Akar, the Ukrainian government s press service has reported.
According to the report, the parties discussed bilateral cooperation, international policy and cooperation in the field of defense and security. The meeting, which took place on December 18, was also attended by Ukraine s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Strategic Industries Oleh Urusky, Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Taran, Minister for Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Petrashko, and other officials.

Ukraine, Turkey sign contracts for military goods

For the first time in history, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has concluded direct foreign economic agreements for military goods.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Taran signed a number of defense contracts with Turkish companies, the ministry s press service reported.
This event took place during the visit of a Turkish delegation led by Head of the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) of the Republic of Turkey İsmail Demir to Kyiv.
According to the minister, these are projects designed to radically strengthen the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian Navy to increase security in the region of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. These are the first specific agreements within the framework of the recently signed agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Turkey.
