Riyadh: Saudi Arabia Friday ordered closure of 08 more mosques as Coronavirus cases surge in the Kingdom in new wave of the Pandemic.
With this as many as 52 mosques in the entire Kingdom have shut their doors for worshippers. Neigbpuring Bahrain too had earlier closed mosques after the surge in Covid-19 cases.
According to local media reports, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance has intensified its efforts to monitor all mosques facilities where Friday prayers are held in an attempt to limit the spread of the virus.

The Jaafari Waqf has called on all places of worship to fully comply with all precautionary measures in place to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, particularly with the advent of the month of Rajab.
It highlighted the importance of protecting all members of society, particularly the elderly, by observing the various ceremonies associated with this month remotely via live broadcast.
In a statement, it added that the global spread of COVID-19 and the recent increase in active cases warrants greater responsibility and a renewed commitment to precautionary measures set out by the National Medical Taskforce, citing the recommendations issued by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the temporary suspension of prayers at mosques to mitigate the spread of the virus.

Friday prayers and sermons will continue to be aired live from the Ahmed Al Fateh Islamic Centre, in the presence of a limited number of worshippers.
