Phoenix area school district to revise equity goals after backlash

A Phoenix area school district embroiled in controversy in recent months over its attempts to adopt practices aimed at providing an equitable education and environment to marginalized students will revise its equity goals after receiving backlash from some in the community.  The announcement was made in a letter to parents and staff from the Litchfield Elementary School District administration late Friday afternoon.  Is is clear that the goals that were presented at the March 2021 Governing Board meeting need revision, Superintendent Jodi Gunning wrote.  We will continue gathering feedback through the end of the school year and will share revised goals this summer.

The award for the best article on the religious left I have read all year and I most certainly include my own writing goes to Matthew Sitman for this excellent essay at The New Republic. His closing paragraph should be memorized by all who wish to claim religious sanction for progressive politics: Politics always takes place in the shadow of death, among people who even during righteous campaigns fail to honor the dignity of their neighbors. The task of the religious left can t be found in demographics or the polls, or in the divine sanction it can offer for this or that policy. Instead, it is found in offering witness to the possibility of a beloved community, one that sees eternity looming beyond the next election.

Racist Professor Demands a Conviction of America After Chauvin Verdict

Share Source: AP Photo/Jeff Roberson After a jury delivered three guilty verdicts for former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin for the second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter of George Floyd Tuesday afternoon, the race-obsessed Left isn t satisfied.  Leading anti-racist Boston University professor Ibram X. Kendi is calling for the conviction of the United States of America and is brushing aside the idea that individual officers are responsible for their actions, rather than the entire justice system.  So now what? Chauvin is headed to jail, but is America headed to justice. Is justice convicting a police officer, or is justice convicting America? Kendi asks in a new video for CBS News. When tens of millions of Americans after Floyd s murder last year took to the streets of nearly every American town, we were convicting America.
