FacebookTwitterEmail SF resident Allen Luong swims words and pictures in the San Francisco Bay.Picasa, Allen Luong After another long day working from home as a software engineer, Allen Luong looked down and saw that his feet were really swollen.  When San Francisco shut down in March 2020, Luong stopped swimming. It was just a few months into the COVID-19 pandemic and already the effects of lockdown were showing on his body. A member of the South End Rowing Club (SERC) since 2008, Luong loved to swim in the freezing cold waters of Aquatic Park and swam all the way to Alcatraz at least once a week. He loved meeting up with friends at the club and swimming so much, he’d swam to the rock more than 400 times in four years.
