AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Akron Police confirmed a homicide investigation is underway for the shooting that killed a 35-year-old man on Thursday afternoon.
Police said officers were sent to the 1200 block of Park Lane Drive after getting a call for shots fired at 3:15 p.m.
When they got there, they found an unresponsive man on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound, according to police.
Police said the 35-year-old victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - An Akron woman told police she was home with her children Tuesday night when bullets hit her home.
Akron police went to the woman’s home on the 1000 block of Burkhardt Avenue around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a call reporting shots fired in the area.
Akron police discovered that multiple bullets hit both the woman’s house and a nearby vehicle.
The bullets didn’t injure anybody inside the home.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A 62-year-old woman was killed Monday evening after she was struck by a vehicle on South Arlington Street.
The vehicle fled the scene after hitting the woman around 5:45 p.m., according to an Akron police press release.
The victim was taken to Akron City Hospital where she died.
Authorities are investigating the crash, according to the release.
It is not known why the woman was in the street or what her condition was at the time she was struck, police say. Too, there is little information available about the vehicle that fled. It is possibly silver, the release said.

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - A shootout in an Akron neighborhood resulted in a nearby home getting struck by a stray bullet.
“My heart sunk to my stomach, and I instantly like yelled for my boyfriend, called 911, and made sure I was protecting my 19-month-old sleeping,” said Paige Blaylock who witnessed the end of the gunfight.
Blaylock still doesn’t feel safe in her home after what happened.
