CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Wayne Doye, the man who âbrutally beatâ his girlfriendâs 7-year-old son in Summit County in April 1987, is up for parole.
Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh said the hearing in front of the Ohio Parole Board is slated for Feb. 17, and her office âstrongly opposes Doyleâs release from prison.â
Walsh said Charlieâs injuries âwere so severe that a part of his intestine ruptured. He also had several broken bones. Charlie endured tremendous pain and suffering and died nearly 20 hours after the initial assault.â

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio The man convicted in the brutal murder of a seven-year-old boy back in 1987 is up for parole this month.
Wayne Doyle beat and killed his girlfriend s son, Charlie, in April of 1987. The Summit County Prosecutor s Office says that Charlie was beaten so severely that part of his intestine ruptured. The child also suffered several broken bones as a result of the assault.
The Summit County Prosecutor s office says that Charlie endured tremendous pain and suffered for nearly 20 hours after he was beaten before he finally passed away from his injuries.

WARREN Six people applied to be appointed to a judicial seat on the 11th District Court of Appeals that will be vacated Tuesday.
Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican, will select the next judge. Dan Tierney, his spokesman, said he can’t comment on when the appointment will be made.
“We’re aware of the impending vacancy and have started our work on it,” Tierney said. “We’ll be meeting with the candidates, getting input from the local (Republican parties in the district) and working with the (Ohio) Supreme Court. There are things that have to happen” before an appointment is made.

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Thomas Gilbert has spent 40 years in prison.
Summit County prosecutors believe he should stay there.
Gilbert was convicted of kidnapping, rape, and murder and sentenced to 55 years to life in prison.
Police say he killed two women in Summit County.
The Ohio Parole Board has scheduled a hearing in February to consider whether Gilbert should be paroled.
âThis is one of the most violent offenders that has ever come through this court system,â said Tania Nemer, a community outreach prosecutor for the Summit County Prosecutorâs Office.
