With Memorial Day weekend upon us, many parks and recreation departments across the country are having a tough time finding enough lifeguards to fill all the job openings.
It seems the coronavirus put hiring and trainings on pause. And now that things are getting back to normal, towns and cities are scrambling a bit to get caught up.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With Memorial Day and Flag Day right around the corner, it’s a good time for a reminder of how to properly handle the American flag.
Before we jump right to it, we want to give you some history on the Stars and Stripes.
The idea of celebrating the flag is believed to have originated in 1885. It started with a school teacher in Wisconsin who wanted to celebrate what was then the 108th anniversary of the official adoption of the Stars and Stripes. Now, we recognize Flag Day every June 14.

With Memorial Day weekend the unofficial start of summer, many parents are probably starting to worry about how they’ll keep their kids entertained this summer. Well, it turns out kids have some big ideas about what will make their summer perfect.
A new survey conducted by The Genius of Play talked to parents of five to 14 year olds, as well as their children to find out what an ideal summer would look like.
If it were up to kids it would include five pool parties in the backyard and three road trips.
58% also want to spend time with family.
