A standoff with an armed suspect in Levelland turned deadly after four members of law enforcement were shot Thursday afternoon.
Levelland Police were first called out to a residence in the 1100 block of 10th Street just before 1:15pm on Thursday. Some time after 3pm, reports first surfaced that four members of law enforcement were shot during the standoff with the suspect.
Just before 7pm, the Lubbock County Sheriff s Office confirmed that one of the four officers shot, died. SWAT Commander Sergeant Josh Bartlett was killed as a result wounds he received during the initial shootout with the suspect.

A Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office deputy was shot and killed during a SWAT standoff in the West Texas city of Levelland. Two other deputies were shot and are in critical condition, according to reports from Lubbock.
The Justices of the Peace and Constables Association of Texas posted on Facebook that the leader of the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was shot and killed Thursday afternoon during a standoff in Levelland, Texas. The organization reported that two other deputies were shot and are listed in critical condition. Another Hockley County deputy and a Levelland Police Department officer were also reported to be injured during the ongoing standoff.

The Lubbock County Sherriff s announced that SWAT Commander Sergeant Josh Bartlett was killed during a standoff Thursday, July 15.
The LCSO SWAT Team responded to assist the Levelland Police Department at 2:15 pm with a barricaded suspect who was firing at authorities. The standoff took place at 1100 10th St. in Levelland.
Shortly after the SWAT teams arrival, according to authorities, the situation further escalated and Sgt. Bartlett was shot in the exchange of firearms.
Sgt. Bartlett was taken to Covenant Medical Center in Levelland, and he later succumbed to his life-threatening injuries.
The other injured officers were transported to another hospital in Lubbock.
