Andhra CM urges to stop vaccine supply to pvt hospitals ANI 22 May 2021, 23:56 GMT+10 Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], May 22 (ANI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to suspend supply of COVID-19 vaccines to private hospitals as they are allegedly charging exorbitant prices per vial. In a letter to the Centre, the Chief Minister alleged that the private hospitals are charging exorbitant prices from Rs 2,000 to Rs 25,000 per vial. He also said that the control over vaccines should be with the central and state governments. Due to the price differential offered to them and also the flexibility available to the private hospitals to fix the price of their vaccines, these hospitals are charging as high as Rs 2,000-25,000 for each dose from the public, the Chief Minister mentioned in the letter.

Adequate tests being conducted in Telangana, says official ANI 19 May 2021, 16:03 GMT+10 Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 19 (ANI): Telangana Director of Public health G Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday said adequate COVID-19 tests are being conducted in the state and asserted that the positivity rate is also coming down. Giving a clarification on the Telangana High Court s observations that the state government is not conducting a sufficient number of COVID-19 tests, the health director said: if adequate tests are not being conducted then how is the number of COVID-19 positive cases dropping each day. Why is that the Telangana state s positivity rate has come down, why is that the number of hospital admission has come down, and how is the state recording more number of discharges? he asked.

Asset managers indicated a steady decline in fresh Covid-19 cases as the possible reason for positive market sentiment. At 10:15 am, the BSE SP Sensex was up by 448 points or 0.92 per cent at 49,180 while the Nifty 50 advanced by 120 points or 0.82 per cent to 14,798. Sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were mixed with Nifty PSU bank gaining by 2 per cent, private bank by 1.6 per cent and financial service by 1.4 per cent. But Nifty metal, IT and pharma slipped marginally.

Haryana: 460 cartons of smuggled liquor seized from truck ANI 18 May 2021, 01:27 GMT+10 Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], May 17 (ANI): The Haryana Police on Monday seized 5,520 bottles of illicit Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in Sonipat district while the consignment was being smuggled in a truck to Arunachal Pradesh. A Haryana Police spokesperson informed that truck has been impounded and the consignment, packed in 460 cartons, has been seized. A primary probe revealed that the illicit liquor was being smuggled from Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh to Arunachal Pradesh. The liquor has a hologram of distilleries in Chandigarh and Sirmour (Himachal Pradesh). The spokesperson said that while patrolling in the GT road area, a police team received a tip-off about a truck carrying a huge stock of illicit liquor. The team swung into action and seized 460 cartons of liquor from the truck which was parked near a dhaba.
