The number of total new claims filed for unemployment benefits in the Beehive State registered at 3,817 for the week of Feb. 7 through Feb. 13, according to a report from the Utah Department of Workforce Services.
The number of Utahns filing new claims for unemployment benefits stabilized at 4,548 for the week of Jan. 31 through Feb. 6, nine fewer than the week before. There were 33,691 individuals filing continued claims during the same period.
The unemployment rate in Summit County in December was 6.5%, in the range of the numbers through the fall, the Utah Department of Workforce Services reported, additional evidence of a leveling out in the gains since the summer.
