The vaccine has already arrived at Intermountain s LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City and Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, said Dr. Kristin Dascomb, Intermountain Healthcare medical director of infection prevention for employee health. Intermountain Healthcare officials originally said Monday morning that they believed the vaccine would be administered to health care workers Wednesday afternoon but adjusted that timetable Monday evening to Tuesday afternoon as a result of progress in scheduling caregivers. The first vaccinations will take place at LDS Hospital.

First doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered to Utah frontline workers © Provided by KUTV Salt Lake City The University of Utah Hospital administered the first COVID-19 vaccine doses in the state of Utah to frontline caregivers on Tuesday.  The hospital livestreamed the event on Facebook.  Christy Mulder, a MICU nurse at U of U Health, was the first person to get the COVID-19 vaccine. It s an overwhelming day, lots of emotions, excitement, joy. I m still trying to process it all Mulder said. I m excited that we re looking forward and that there s a light at the end of the tunnel. As they got the vaccine, the health care workers said they would recommend that other people get it to help stop the spread of COVID-19. They include Diana Navarrete, HCA, Maria Cuevas, EVS Worker, Stephen Hartsell, MD, and Brad Thompson, RT. 

COVID-19 vaccine is on its way to Tooele County

The first shipment of COVID-19 has reached Utah, but it may be a short while until the vaccine reaches Tooele County. The first vaccine shipment was designated for hospitals in the state that provide care for the highest numbers of COVID-19 patients, according to the Department of Health’s vaccination plan. Those hospitals were: LDS Hospital and University Hospital in Salt Lake City, Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, and the Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.  Tooele County’s hospitals should receive the vaccine later this week and the Tooele County Health Department expects to receive the vaccine before the end of the year, according to Amy Bate, Tooele County Health Department public information officer.  

COVID-19 vaccine arrives in Utah; first shots likely start on Wednesday

John Roark, Associated Press SALT LAKE CITY The COVID-19 vaccine has arrived in Utah, with hospital health care workers now set to receive the first doses Tuesday at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. Monday morning, after the first shipments to Utah were delivered to LDS Hospital and Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Intermountain Healthcare officials said it would take until Wednesday before any shots would be administered because of the time needed to schedule appointments and prepare staff. But by Monday evening, Intermountain Healthcare issued a statement saying “thanks to progress in scheduling caregivers on Monday, the vaccine team was able to push that up and will begin vaccinations on Tuesday.” A virtual news conference has been scheduled for 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, after the vaccines have been given.
