How a well-meaning U.S. government database fuels dangerous vaccine misinformation

On April 30, 2021, the website Natural News which NewsGuard has rated Red, meaning generally unreliable published a story reporting the death of a 2-year-old who in late February had received the second dose of a Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine during the companies clinical trials for children. The only problem? Children under 5 did not begin receiving shots until April, according to a press releaseon the Pfizer website.
Natural News picked up the false claim from a familiar source of pandemic misinformation: Red-rated website Great Game India, which in January 2020 also spread a different falsehood that the COVID-19 virus was stolen from a Canadian lab.

ST. ANTHONY The Idaho Attorney General’s Office investigation into the death of Tammy Daybell is now headed back to the Fremont County Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecuting Attorney Lindsey Blake, who was elected in November, made the announcement in a news release Thursday evening.
“Effective this week, the Fremont County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has resumed full authority and responsibility over the case of the death of Tammy Daybell,” Blake wrote. “The newly elected prosecutor requested the case be transferred back to Fremont to be handled locally. The Fremont County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office thanks the Idaho Attorney General’s Office for their hard work, time and effort on this case.”

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah â About 250 deaths thought to be related to COVID-19 are currently being investigated by the Utah Medical Examinerâs Office. At least one death dates back to early November, according to Utah Department of Health spokesperson Tom Hudachko.
Contrary to popular belief, the stateâs Medical Examinerâs Office isnât performing autopsies confirming the cause of death is COVID-19 for each person.
âThe biggest challenge right now is the workload,â said Hudachko.
