Ruling elites of the world, especially those of the Global South, are in awe of large and mega infrastructure projects, pumping billions or in some cases even trillions of dollars into these capital intensive initiatives.
Such projects are considered the hallmark of modern civilization with economic pundits declaring them to be the solution to all the economic ills that have plagued the global economy. For them such projects could herald an era of progress and prosperity for both the developed and the developing world.
Such claims have greatly fascinated rulers across the world, prompting them to focus their attention on these expensive schemes. For instance, India spent a whopping $8 billion on the Sardar Sarovar Dam alone. Currently two more giant projects worth over $110 billion are also being undertaken by New Delhi. Ahsan Iqbal accused Firdous Ashiq Awan of interfering in election process
DASKA (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Ahsan Iqbal has welcomed decision of returning officer to withhold results of NA-75 and demanded an inquiry into alleged ‘abduction’ of presiding officers of several polling stations.
Talking to media persons, former Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) tried to rig the election and polling was stopped for several hours in some polling stations.
The PML-N leader also accused Firdous Ashiq Awan of trying to alter the results of the elections and said that even PTI workers condemned the attitude of the CM’s aide. Ahsan Iqbal also lauded returning officer for resisting alleged government pressure.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday called upon former Supreme Court judge Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh to recuse himself from the Broadsheet inquiry commission.
Former Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, while addressing a ceremony, said that Justice (retd) Azmat Saeed who is a former employee of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is now investigating the same anti-graft watchdog.
He further said that PML-N’s objections are not personal but simply highlighting the conflict of interest.
On the other hand, the federal government has issued a notification concerning constitution of a one-man commission comprising Justice (retd) Sheikh Azmat Saeed, a former judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, to probe the Broadsheet scandal.
