U S Poet Laureate Joy Harjo to give free Emory University reading online

Current U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, the first Native American to hold the position, will read her poems at an event hosted by the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library on Saturday, March 20, at 4 p.m. Part of the Raymond Danowski Poetry Library Reading Series, this normally large in-person event will be held online due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. Attendees are asked to register here to receive a viewing link prior to the event, which is open to the public at no charge. Harjo became the 23rd poet laureate of the United States in 2019 and was recently appointed by the Library of Congress to a rare third term, to begin in September 2021. She is an internationally renowned musician, writer and citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation in Oklahoma.
