Ireland s pubs have seen their doors shut for the majority of the last 12 months as coronavirus raged throughout the country.
But with the vaccination programme going to plan and a steady decrease in the number of daily cases and hospitalisations, we are seeing the country slowly returning to normality.
Normality for a lot of people this summer would see them heading to the pub with friends, something which has been rare over the last year.
But how close are we to that glorious point?

Construction sites accounted for 21 outdoor-linked outbreaks, followed by 20 linked to sports and fitness activities.
The figures back up international studies and led to calls for sports and other outdoor activities to be allowed again in Ireland sooner than is currently planned.
However, the HPSC pointed out that it was not possible to pinpoint where exactly transmission occurred and that in 20pc of all cases the source of the infection was not known.
Fianna Fáil TD Jim O’Callaghan said the figures were evidence for outdoor activities to be allowed sooner rather than later. We now have scientific evidence that there is a very reduced risk of Covid transmission outdoors. We need to follow this science by permitting outdoor sports and activities,” he said.

The Restaurants Association of Ireland said it would welcome a discussion on green passes
The Irish Council for Civil Liberties said that a digital certificate for Covid-19 vaccination cannot and should not lead to any type of discrimination.
Speaking on RTÉ s Drivetime, ICCL Executive Director Liam Herrick said that anything that allows discrimination in terms of access to goods and services, or employment raises an obvious question . discrimination . It also puts people in a position of being forced indirectly to take a vaccine, which raises questions of bodily integrity and the principle of consent to the vaccine programme.
