The family farm typically donates about 1 million eggs per year, however, the pandemic forced the increase in donations to help families who have been impacted by COVID-19. “COVID-19 has affected so many of our local families, and we want to do what we can to support our neighbors,” Herbruck’s President Greg Herbruck said. “By donating eggs to food banks, we have been able to help ensure families are still getting nutritious food during an extremely challenging time.”

The grants approved for the fall programmatic grant cycle are intended to support health-related programs and services that will benefit Marquette County’s west end communities, organizers said in an announcement. Receiving grants were: ≤ Caregivers Incentive Project, $7,500 for the Caregiver Academy and to support mentored in-home training. ≤ Feeding America West Michigan, $6,400 to provide mobile food truck services in Marquette County’s west end. ≤ Ishpeming Negaunee Nice Community Education, $6,000 to support the Beyond 26 program for adults with disabilities.

Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch in Ionia County announced Wednesday that it donated more than 1.6 million eggs in 2020, a year which brought numerous challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That number surpasses amounts donated by Herbruck’s in past years, according to a news release. “COVID-19 has affected so many of our local families, and we want to do what we can to support our neighbors,” said Herbruck’s President Greg Herbruck. “By donating eggs to food banks, we have been able to help ensure families are still getting nutritious food during an extremely challenging time.”
