DuPage County is in the market for new voting equipment that its top election official says would replace an outdated system and make the election process better and faster.
County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek is preparing to issue a request for proposals for enhanced election equipment and services that use entirely paper ballots, she told the county board s finance committee this week.
Arizona Citizens File Lawsuit Against State Officials, Allege Past Elections Didn’t Comply With State Law
A group of 20 Arizona citizens filed a lawsuit to the state Supreme Court on May 6 seeking a writ of quo warranto against a number of state officials, alleging that state elections from 2018 through 2020 weren’t in compliance with Arizona law.
The court is being asked to order the state officials named in the complaint to be removed from the allegedly unlawfully held seats, and order a pro-tempore (“for the time being”) seat to the citizens who filed the suit, “until such time as free, fair, and secure elections can be held.”
Senators voted 9-9 on advancing the For the People Act to the full chamber, but Majority Leader Chuck Schumer could still bring it up for a floor vote.

WASHINGTON (CN) Stiff opposition from Republicans on Tuesday prevented a voting rights bill from advancing out of a Senate committee to the full chamber.
The For the People Act, which was passed in the House in March by a narrow margin, would alter nearly every aspect of the electoral process, from eliminating hurdles to the ballot box, restricting partisan gerrymandering by allowing federal courts to draw districts and shining light on ominous dark money campaign donations.

Board of Elections considers polling location contingency plans

SIDNEY – The Shelby County Board of Elections is considering contingency options for a pair of polling locations for the November 2021 general election.
During the May 4 board meeting, the Board of Elections learned sewer and drainage improvements are scheduled at the fairgrounds this upcoming fall. That work could disrupt traffic flow and parking at the fairgrounds polling location.
The board also has concerns about the Lockington United Methodist Church polling location and its availability for future elections. In November 2020 the church canceled in-person worship because of reduced attendance and volunteer support.
