Police raid at a massage parlour at Taman Melaka Raya. MELAKA: A sob story did not deter police here from handing out a RM10,000 compound notice to the owner of a massage parlour that had been operating illegally during the movement control order (MCO). Melaka CID Chief Asst Comm Mohd Sukri Kaman said the 48-year-old man had tried to plead his case by saying that he had to keep his Taman Melaka Raya business open to pay the monthly rental, utility bills and staff salaries. The owner had pleaded his case when police raided the premises on the first floor of a shophouse at 3.10pm on Thursday (June 3).

Man stabbed to death in front of nieces on first day of Raya

MELAKA: A 36-year-old man was stabbed to death in front of his two nieces on the first day of Hari Raya at Kampung Berangan Enam, Umbai, here. Melaka CID Chief Asst Comm Mohd Sukri Kaman said the murder occurred at 7.30am on Thursday (May 13). The victim was earlier visited by a former brother-in-law who wanted to take his two daughters to celebrate Hari Raya with him. However, a heated argument ensued between the two when the victim was assaulted and stabbed, he said at the crime scene. ACP Mohd Sukri said the victim tried to pacify his attacker by telling him not to behave violently on a festive day but things got out of hand.
