Wellsville man gets prison for abuse of pregnant girlfriend | News, Sports, Jobs

Staff Writer LISBON An 18-month prison sentence was imposed against a Wellsville man, who pleaded guilty recently to abduction, domestic violence, intimidation of a victim and having weapons while under a disability. Joah T. Leffler, 37, Sherwood Road, Wellsville, denied at Monday’s sentencing hearing in Common Pleas Court that he harmed his very pregnant girlfriend, Tiffany Allen, on June 18 and June 19. According to his defense attorney, Colleen Hall Dailey, the couple had a “rocky relationship” and Allen has since recanted the story. She said Leffler only pleaded guilty to the charge because he did not know whether his girlfriend would take the stand during a trial and tell which version of the story.

Additionally, Jones said Hoschar has already served 204 days in jail for this domestic violence charge, a third-degree felony, for harming Jamie Lynn Allen on July 9.

EL man will face trial jury on child sex charges | News, Sports, Jobs

DEANNE JOHNSON LISBON A Common Pleas Court jury was selected on Tuesday for Austin Powell, a wheelchair-bound East Liverpool area man charged with rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition involving two small children. During opening arguments, Assistant County Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones said Powell, now 29, of East Liverpool Road, is accused of sexually assaulting the girls when they were between the ages of 6 and 9 years old. There are four years in difference between the girls, so the assaults allegedly occurred over several years beginning in 2009 and continuing through 2013. At the time, the girls said nothing about what was happening and Jones said they did not know about what happened to the other. But the younger one eventually told a friend around July of 2018, leading to him helping her to tell family.
