Cott named 25th Judicial District judge

Cott named 25th Judicial District judge Governor s Office release TOPEKA - Governor Laura Kelly Monday appointed Kristi Cott, Garden City, to the 25th Judicial District vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Ricklin Pierce.  “Kristi is a dedicated, professional, and knowledgeable attorney with extensive experience in the judicial system,” Gov. Kelly said. “I am confident Kristi’s experience and her commitment to the law will serve the 25th Judicial District well.”  Cott has been in private practice in Garden City since 2020, representing clients in criminal defense and guardianship and conservatorship cases. She began her career as an Assistant Public Defender, then became an Assistant County Attorney in Finney County before going into private practice. Cott is a member of the Kansas Bar Association and has been active through various bar associations in the past as well.

Here is what you need to know: Speed and Aggressive Driving Enforcement The board accepted a $3,850 Speed and Aggressive Driving Enforcement grant from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. The purpose of the new program is to conduct highly visible, well publicized traffic safety measurements. The grant funds will be used for the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office and the Zumbrota Police Department’s overtime enforcement addressing all traffic safety issues. A need for an emphasis on speeding and aggressive driving arose during 2020 when law enforcement noticed a rise in excessive speeding. Three detention deputies Goodhue County Adult Detention Center will be hiring three new deputies for additional help.
