In a shocking and intriguing development, the man whose SUV was parked with 20-odd gelatin sticks and a threatening note seized near the home of Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani, has been found dead on Friday.
The body of Mansukh Hiren, a businessman, was recovered from the Reti-Bunder creek at Mumbra in Thane district.
The incident comes as a major embarrassment to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government even as the opposition BJP demanded the resignation of state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and that the case be transferred to the National Investigation Agency.
The stolen Mahindra Scorpio was lying abandoned near a tree located near Antilia, the house of Ambani at the Carmichael Road residence on February 25 – and the police seized 20-odd gelatin sticks and a letter threatening Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani, the Chairperson of Reliance Foundation.

The Mumbai Police submitted before a court on Monday that Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami had allegedly bribed television rating agency Broadcast Audience Research Council’s former Chief Executive Officer Partho Dasgupta with “lakhs of rupees” to ramp up his channel’s viewership,
The Indian Express reported.
This is the first time the city police have named Goswami for his involvement in the alleged Television Rating Points manipulation scam. Dasgupta, on the other hand, was arrested in connection with the case on December 24, and was last week remanded to judicial custody till December 28.

The Special Investigation Team of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Thursday arrested the former chief operating officer of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) for his alleged involvement in the Television Rating Points (TRP) manipulation scam.
Romil Ramgarhia was produced before the Mumbai metropolitan magistrate court and remanded in police custody till December 19. According to the police, this is the 14th arrest in the case.
Officers said that Republic TV distribution head Ghanshyam Singh, during his interrogation, had spoken about the dual Logical Channel Number (LCN) system. LCN is an identification number assigned to a TV channel, and the allegations against Republic TV are that it allegedly used dual LCN, which allowed it to show up in the genre of ‘kids channels’, apart from the ‘news channels’ category, thus showing up at two places.
