New Delhi, Feb 7 : Ad-hoc teachers form the backbone of teaching in most colleges affiliated to the Delhi University, if one goes by statistics. As per a teacher, more than 6,000 ad-hoc teachers are working in the DU and its affiliated colleges at present.
In many colleges, ad-hoc teachers account for around 70 per cent of the faculty. As per DU data for 57 colleges, over 3,500 ad-hoc teachers are working there.
According to Delhi University, 135 ad-hoc teachers are working at Daulatram College, 134 at Ramjas College, 126 at Shri Venkateshwara College, 114 at Kalindi College, 110 at Deshbandhu College, 109 at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College, 104 at Dayal Singh College, 96 at Shaheed Rajguru College, 99 at Mata Sundari College, 87 at Gargi

A United Democratic Front-(UDF) backed Syndicate member has approached Governor and Chancellor Arif Mohammed Khan against the recent decision to appoint 36 Assistant Professors in various departments of Calicut University.
P. Rasheed Ahammed, the Syndicate member, said in his letter that the selection process had violated provisions of University Grants Commission regulations, Kerala State and Subordinate Service Rules, and the Rights of Persons With Disabilities Act. He said that the UGC regulations mandated the selection process to be transparent. JAMMU, Jan 12: Former minister and JKNPP chairman, Harsh Dev Singh today said that despite a highly discriminatory Industrial package having been announced by the Govt of India recently, it is shocking that none of the senior leaders of BJP have responded till date to the public outcries against the alleged prejudicial treatment to Jammu region.
Talking to media-persons here today, Singh said that is has been reported in media that out of 70 Industrial Estates sanctioned for J&K UT, 46 are allocated for Kashmir Division and merely 24 fall in the kitty of the marginalized Jammu region. The proposed distribution being highly biased and objectionable.
