Mumbai: Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale on Monday said there was no need of a march in Maharashtra’s Mumbai in support of farmers agitating near Delhi against the Centre s three new farm laws, claiming it is being done just for publicity .
Athawale added that the Centre is on the farmers side and ready to give them justice.

MUMBAI: Union minister Ramdas Athawale on Monday said there was no need of a farmers march in Mumbai in support of peasants protesting near Delhi against the Centre s three new farm laws, and claimed it is being done only for publicity .
The central government is on the farmers side and ready to give justice to the peasants, he asserted.
However, the NCP, an ally of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government, accused Athawale of insulting farmers by calling the protest in Mumbai as a publicity stunt , and asked him to apologise to all the peasants.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has filed a police complaint against Actor Sonu Sood, accusing him of illegally converting a six-story residential building located in Juhu, Mumbai into a hotel.
After registering BMC s complaint, the police have stated that they would investigate the case and would take the required steps. The actor himself is yet to comment on this accusation by the BMC.
Anil Deshmukh said anyone who speaks against the BJP faces action by the central agencies.

In an apparent swipe at the Centre, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Monday said anyone who speaks against policies or leaders of the BJP, faces action by the central agencies, a day after it came to light that the Enforcement Directorate had summoned Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut s wife in the PMC Bank money laundering case on December 29.
Speaking to reporters, the senior NCP leader also said that the use of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for political purposes had never happened in Maharashtra.
