Georgia man arrested for multiple local school threats | News, Sports, Jobs

jpatterson@mariettatimes.com The Washington County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday afternoon the arrest of a suspect in the series of bomb and active shooter threats in southeast Ohio schools over the last six days. Nicholas John Frances Hall, 18, of 1385 Washington Road, Thomson, Ga., was arrested in McDuffie County, Ga., by the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office. Washington County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Mark Warden announced the arrest after a multi-agency investigation Tuesday. Hall, according to FBI records, has a past criminal charge out of Lee County, Fla., for a first-degree misdemeanor of battery from March of 2018. According to the affidavit submitted to Marietta Municipal Court by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday for a warrant uploaded to the National Crime Information Center, Hall allegedly confessed to a deputy sheriff of the Georgia agency that “he made the bomb threats to get his girlfriend out of school.”

Suspect Begins Chase While Dragging Stolen Copper From Noble Co Oil Well Site

By: Clayton Cummins PERRY, Oklahoma - A man accused of stealing copper from an oil well site has been arrested after deputies say he led them on a short, high-speed chase that led to a manhunt in Noble County. Around 6:30 a.m. on April 21, a Noble County sheriff deputy was dispatched to an oil well site near the intersection of Bronco and County Road 130. When the deputy arrived, Noble County Sheriff Matt McGuire said John Smith, 44, was caught in the middle of a copper theft. “The individual saw the marked deputy unit and at that point decided to leave quickly by driving through the fence that was around the location,” said McGuire.

A pretrial hearing was held Tuesday in the Noble County case of Tyler Thompson, 28, of 48569 Outpost Road, Caldwell, who is accused of the murder of his fiancee, Leah Brooke Hines, in March. Thompson last appeared before Noble County Common Pleas Judge Kelly Riddle on April 20 for a bond and arraignment hearing, but Tuesday, neither Thompson nor his defense counsel appeared in person.

Fake explosive devices lead to felony indictment in Noble County

Deputies responded to the scene and requested the bomb squad be dispatched to render the devices safe. Mackie said that incident remains under investigation by the Noble County Sheriff s Office and Ohio State Fire Marshal s Office. When arrested on April 20, Hall was taken into custody on the warrants issued by the Noble County court and Cambridge Municipal Court for a probation violation and a charge of criminal damaging, a second-degree misdemeanor. The criminal damaging charge was filed by Cambridge police on April 9 following an unrelated incident. Hall is also accused of violating the terms of his probation on March 1 and 8 when he failed to appear for court-ordered counseling following a conviction for aggravated criminal trespassing in September 2020.
