One of the toughest examinations in the country, UPSC Civil Services Exam was cracked by an IIT Bombay graduate in her first attempt in 2019. Simi Karan cracked the IAS exam in her first attempt without coaching and secured All India Rank 31. Her journey of graduating from IIT to cracking the UPSC examination is full of inspiration and motivation.
Simi Karan was only 22 years old when she cracked the Civil Services exam. Born in Odisha and brought up in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, Simi completed her schooling at DPS Bhilai school. Soon after qualifying her Class 12 exams, she took admission to the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Bombay where she completed her graduation in Electrical Engine
UPSC Civil Services: Not in favour of granting relaxation in age limit, Centre to SC - Scores of petitioners, who had exhausted their attempt in October 2020 exam, had moved the top court urging it to grant them an extra chance.
Civil Services 2021 preliminary exam details are expected to be released on February 10.

The Centre Tuesday told the Supreme Court that it is against granting one-time relaxation on age limit to UPSC civil service aspirants, including those who had exhausted their last attempt in 2020 exam amid the COVID-19 pandemic and would get one more chance this year provided they are not age barred, as it would be discriminatory to other candidates.
The Centre told this to a bench headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar which reserved its verdict on a plea which had sought one more chance in the UPSC s civil services exam to those aspirants who could not appear in their last attempt in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Supreme Court verdict on UPSC IAS Prelims 2021 examinations continues to be on hold as discussions continue. Today in the hearding UPSC/ Centre shared its willingness to allow extra attempt only for the candidates who were within the age limit. The apex court has asked the defendents to consider and present the merits of refusing the age limit extension. Meanwhile, Union Public Service Commission is scheduled to release UPSC IAS Prelims 2021 notification on February 10, 2021.
