About 25% of Worcester’s population have received at least 1 one shot of a COVID vaccine as numbers still hover higher than officials would like Updated Apr 01, 2021; New week-over-week cases in Worcester dropped, but officials remain wary that the number has plateaued at a level that is too high. City Manager Edward Augustus Jr. announced on Thursday 311 new cases in Worcester this week, 40 fewer than the previous week. The number, though, remains higher than the weekly total announced a month ago at 261. “It’s good that we’re seeing a decrease but we’re hovering in the higher number of weekly new cases than I think any of us would like,” Augustus said.
