Elite Airways is bringing back service to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport with a flight that will provide a gateway to the northeast.
The biweekly flights, which begin July 2, will start by landing at Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York, before continuing on to Elite s home base of Portland, Maine. Tickets start at $199 each way.
The airline has flown between Sarasota-Bradenton and Portland in the past. John Pearsall, president of Elite Airways, said that customers who choose to disembark the aircraft in White Plains will be able to take advantage of that airport s daily nonstop flights to Martha s Vineyard and Nantucket. Westchester County Airport itself is about 25 miles outside of Manhattan and a short drive to Connecticut and New York City suburbs.

AUBURN, Maine
Elite Airways in Auburn hosted an “Aircraft Pulling” event on Saturday to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine.
The fundraiser event consisted of teams who compete in pulling a 31,000-pound CRJ200 Aircraft, a length 15-feet. The team that pulled the aircraft 15-feet the fastest won a trophy courtesy of Maine Awards Roguewear in Lewiston.
Auburn Mayor, Jason Levesque, was there to Emcee the event. Big Brothers Big Sisters matches, family, and co-workers of team members got to watch participating teams compete, take pictures in front of the aircraft, and take turns exploring the aircraft after the pulling event was over.

The Martha s Vineyard Times
Martha’s Vineyard Airport is working with environmental firm Tetra Tech to monitor and mitigate PFAS pollution caused by aircraft firefighting foams.
The Martha’s Vineyard Airport Commission is continuing to work with consulting and engineering firm, Tetra Tech, to monitor private wells for per- and poly-fluoralalkyl substances (PFAS), and treat them with filtration systems if the compounds are found at higher concentrations above 20 parts per trillion (PPT).
Environmental engineer for Tetra Tech, Ron Myrick, said at Thursday’s commission meeting that for the past three years, his company has periodically tested private wells and sample wells dug specifically for monitoring PFAS as it spreads with groundwater flow. Activated charcoal filtration systems have also been installed at private wells with higher levels of PFAS.
