Snowstorm update: Detroit, Ann Arbor still will get snow, changes for Grand Rapids, Saginaw forecasts

It’s still an April snowstorm coming toward Michigan. But it’s trending to less area of southern Michigan getting a meaningful snow.
It still looks like the Detroit area, Ann Arbor area and the very southeast corner of Lower Michigan will have what you’ll probably call an “April snowstorm.”
The trend over the past 24 hours was for the northern edge of meaningful snow to move southeastward. That trend has ended, and now most all model forecasts are similar.
Grand Rapids, Saginaw, and Bay City were on the very northern edge of the accumulating snow. Now it appears those three areas will stay out of accumulating snow, and probably only have some occasional wet flakes of snow.

The Portland area is bracing for what could be the first truly significant snowfall of the season later this week. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for snow, ice, temperatures in the 20s, and gusty east winds across a large portion of western Oregon. A series of Pacific storms from Thursday through Saturday is anticipated to bring heavy snow to the Columbia River .
