CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) A former nurse at a Tennessee high school who had more than 700 illicit images of juvenile girls has been charged in federal court with attempted production of child pornography, authorities said.
Leon B. Hensley, 40, formerly of Clarksville, Tennessee, was arrested Thursday near his current home in Lake Wales, Florida, Acting U.S. Attorney Mary Jane Stewart for the Middle District of Tennessee said in a statement.
More than 40 victims are suspected to be students at North East High School in Clarksville and range in age from 12 to 17, the statement said. The images appear to have been taken by a hidden camera in a bathroom and caught girls in various stages of undress, authorities said.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Authorities say a former nurse at a Tennessee high school who had more than 700 illicit images of juveniles has been charged in federal court with attempted production of child pornography.
Acting U.S. Attorney Mary Jane Stewart said in a statement that 40-year-old Leon B. Hensley was arrested Thursday.
The statement says more than 40 victims are suspected to be students at North East High School in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Authorities said the images appear to have been taken by a hidden camera in a bathroom.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether Hensley has an attorney.

Just this week, Cassie Norton, a high school history teacher in Nashville, and her class were discussing Freedom Riders and myriad roles people played during the civil rights movement of the 1960s.
Part of learning the history of the era means talking about race and racism, Norton said.
The bill doesn’t specifically name critical race theory, although supporters have cited it during the legislative debate. Critical race theory teaches that systematic racism is ingrained in U.S. institutions and white people have benefited from it.
The concept and whether schools, churches and other corporations should subscribe to it has been a source of renewed controversy in recent months.
