€48 million invested in start-ups by Enterprise Ireland in 2020 Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar TD has announced that Enterprise Ireland invested more than €48 million (the highest level of funding to date) towards Irish start-ups in 2020, supporting a total of 125 new start-up companies. Investment was provided through Enterprise Ireland’s High Potential Start-Up (HPSU) and Competitive Start Fund (CSF) programmes. The Covid-19 Sustaining Enterprise Fund and an increase in follow-on investments to help HPSUs scale internationally boosted investment in innovative High Potential Start-Ups in 2020. Enterprise Ireland invested €48m in start-ups in 2020 with 125 new companies funded amid the disorder of the coronavirus pandemic. The total number of new companies supported by Enterprise Ireland is down slightly from 127 in 2019. About half of these companies are outside of Dublin while 38 are led by women, as part of the agency’s Action Plan for Women in Business, which was launched last year to boost female-led businesses.
