Two new cases of locally-acquired COVID-19 were announced on Thursday.
The two cases were in level two of the MCC Members’ Reserve, which had been attended by an infectious man in his 60s from Maribyrnong’s Ariele Apartments.
The infectious man visited Highpoint Shopping Centre on Friday, July 9, and the Carlton-Geelong match at the MCG on Saturday, July 10.
He attended the game with his friend from Barwon Heads, a teacher at Bacchus Marsh Grammar school, who has tested positive.
The man’s parents in Craigieburn, aged 89 and 90, have tested positive.
Victoria’s COVID commander Jeroen Weimar said the two new positive cases were not “known contacts of the other two positive cases we know were there”.

Victoria’s COVID-19 Commander Jeroen Weimar has announced eight locally acquired cases were identified in the last 24 hours amid the state’s growing cluster.
Only one new cases was recorded on Tuesday while the rest were discovered during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Of the new cases four have been detected among residents of the Ariele apartment block in Maribyrnong which is located in Melbourne s inner-west.
The infected man also visited Highpoint Shopping Centre, which has now been listed as an exposure site. Weimar said local authorities would be identifying a number of exposure sites throughout Wednesday afternoon.

We’re very keen to make sure we get a very firm grip of this as soon as we possibly can.”

The MCG, Highpoint shopping centre and a CBD pub have been added as exposure sites after Victoria recorded seven additional local coronavirus cases, almost all of them linked to an apartment building complex in Melbourne’s inner west.
COVID-19 response commander Jeroen Weimar said the seven cases were in addition to the one new infection confirmed overnight, the fourth member of a family that had returned from Sydney, as part of the regular daily reporting and would be included in tomorrow’s official figures.
Four of the new cases were third-floor residents at the Ariele Apartments complex in Maribyrnong that was visited by two COVID-positive removalists from NSW last week. The parents of one of the positive apartment residents, a man in his 60s, also tested positive. The couple, aged 89 and 90, live in Craigieburn.
