5 lakh doses of Chinese vaccine to arrive on May 12
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming on Monday officially announced that 5 lakh doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine will reach Bangladesh on May 12 as a “special gift”.
“It’s the latest outcome of China-Bangladesh anti-pandemic cooperation which again shows that our two peoples are in the same boat and we will stand with each other till the end of this battle,” he said.
The Ambassador made the announcement during an interaction with the members of Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) held virtually. DCAB President Pantho Rahaman and General Secretary AKM Moinuddin also spoke at the event.

The World Health Organisation gave its nod for the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use and now it has become the first Chinese jab to receive the green signal. China has approved five of its Covid-19 vaccines for emergency use.
WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, WHO gave emergency use listing to Sinopharm Beijing s Covid-19 vaccine, making it the sixth vaccine to receive WHO validation for safety, efficacy and quality.
He further added that, The Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunisation, or SAGE, has also reviewed the available data, and recommends the vaccine for adults 18 years and older, with a two-dose schedule.

+ May 08, 2021 THE World Health Organization (WHO) has granted emergency use listing (EUL) to the Sinopharm vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), facilitating its approval for emergency use worldwide and possible participation in the Covax Facility to promote vaccine equity.
The Sinopharm inactivated vaccine, called Sars-CoV-2 Vaccine (Vero Cell), is the sixth to receive WHO validation for safety, efficacy and quality, after those developed by Pfizer/BioNTech, AstraZeneca/Oxford (two vaccines), Serum Institute of India, and Janssen Pharmaceuticals (Johnson & Johnson).

Geneva [Switzerland], May 8 (ANI): The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Friday approved the Chinese Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use, paving the way for it to be rolled out globally.
The Sinopharm vaccine is produced by Beijing Bio-Institute of Biological Products Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China National Biotec Group (CNBG). The addition of this vaccine has the potential to rapidly accelerate COVID-19 vaccine access for countries seeking to protect health workers and populations at risk, said Dr Mariangela Simao, WHO Assistant-Director General for Access to Health Products, in a statement.
